"Dulaney
High School was the brainchild of esteemed child psychologist Otto von Hindenberg. The school embodied his dream to create a haven for the children of post-war urban sprawl, where he could practice his belief in "education with an iron fist." In fact, before the days of walkie-talkies, Doctor von Hindenberg believed that only the strictest discipline would result in a well-mannered and respectful young populace. This is evidenced in a quote from the first edition of the Dulaney Student Manual: The punisment for tardynis shal be two-dozin lasshings on the bair buttoks. It is rumored that it was his idea to contruct the campus near a cemetery, to strike fear into the hearts of his students. von Hindenberg's love for the school drove his willingness to help out in any way possible, from administrative duties to the occasional vomit-cleanup in the girls' bathroom. Even after his passing in 1995, his love lives on to this very day. And though fashions have changed and the horse-and-buggies have been replaced by Jeep Cherokees, the von Hindenberg family motto still rings true in the halls of our dear Dulaney: Wir fühlen uns, oh gut, das wir so gut glauben ...We feel good, oh we feel so good." |
